Foresight’s path to clearing every submission before it reaches underwriting teams with Pibit AI Underwriting OS.

Foresight Risk and Insurance Services is a technology-driven managing general agent writing mid-market workers’ compensation for safety-critical industries such as construction, agriculture and manufacturing. Based in San Francisco, Foresight wraps proprietary risk management technology and services into every policy, streamlining safety compliance and reducing claims frequency by 17% on average.
Approximately 4,600 submissions cleared and 4,000 processed annually, with 99.9% workflow accuracy with our human-in-the-loop, under SLA.
Every incoming submission had to be qualified before underwriters could spend time on it, which meant checking if the account fit appetite, if applications were signed, if loss runs covered the right years and valuation dates, whether it was a duplicate from another broker, and if exposures showed up in the file, among other things. This work sat with Foresight's operations team. Submissions arrived by email in whatever shape the broker sent them, so someone had to open each file, check it against guidelines, figure out what was missing, and chase brokers by hand. Chasing missing documents and unanswered questions took repeated manual effort across a broker base that had varying response times. On top of that, information gathered during qualification had to be re-entered manually before underwriters could use it.
With limited hours in the operations team, submissions had to be prioritized, which meant some accounts were worked and others were skipped entirely.

Download the full case studyPibit runs the work in front of the underwriter across three connected stages: intake and clearance, document extraction, and external research. Output is delivered into Foresight’s database, where underwriters use it in the underwriting workbench.

Our pipeline is getting so efficient that we will soon be able to provide either a pricing indication or quote on all deals within a few days and in the best cases, a few hours.
The qualification layer that used to sit between a submission arriving and an underwriter seeing it now runs in under forty minutes. Clearance averages 30 to 37 minutes, and full document processing comes back in about an hour and a half, down from roughly three hours. Time to quote has come down from 12 days to 2, and each underwriter now handles 190% more submissions.
Because qualification no longer competes with underwriting for the same hours, Foresight stopped having to choose which submissions were worth working. For an MGA that writes distressed risk, the ability to reach every account other carriers decline is a direct expansion of the book it can write.
